Improve Your Contact With Good Posture

Lesson Video Key Points

Posture Basics

1. Weight of your body should be positioned on the balls of your feet.

2. Knees should have a slight bend/flex (athletic position).

3. Upper body should bend over from the hips (like your butt is sticking out).

4. Arms should hang down naturally (even with the toes or slightly outside of them).

Posture is another good fundamental to practice in front of the mirror. Go through the key points above and watch yourself as you do so. This way, you’ll be able to keep track of what looks good about your posture and then memorize that feeling in your body so that you can duplicate it at the range and on the course. If you had poor posture to begin with, then it might feel a little strange to have your lower back feel so straight, but practice it until it become comfortable. Not only will you look like a more accomplished golfer, but your upper body will move more freely, and your swing will look more athletic, balanced, and controlled.

Please note, good posture will look slightly different for everyone because we all have different body types. If any of the positions I show you in the video cause you pain in your knees or back, then make adjustments to suit yourself.

Good luck with your practice!
