Left Hand Grip Basics

1. Hold the grip in your fingers.

2. Rest the butt of the club against the pad of your left hand.

3. Thumb should be in a 1 o’clock position when looking down at your hand holding the club.

4. “V” formed by your thumb and index finger should point towards your chin.

5. Two knuckles should be visible when you look down at your hand holding the club.

Right Hand Grip Basics

1. Hold the grip in your fingers.

2. Thumb and index finger supply most of the grip pressure.

3. Thumb should be in a 11 o’clock position when looking down at your hand holding the club.

4. ”V” formed by your thumb and index finger should point towards your shoulder.

5. Left thumb rests in the life line of the right hand.

Before you move on to the next lesson, practice the grip until it becomes second nature. Keep a club in the house and practice holding it when you’re watching TV, reading the newspaper, or any other time you’re lounging around. A change in your grip can feel weird at first, so the sooner you can feel comfortable with it, the sooner you can use it on the course.
